“S.S.D.VOLARE”, a non-profit amateur sports club, has been committed for years to promoting sports for the disabled and SOCIALLY USEFUL PROJECTS. Volare specializes in organizing activities involving disabled people (wheelchair tennis) with the aim of demonstrate how it is possible to overcome all the barriers that can limit a sporting practice.
The non-profit Volare amateur sports club founded in 2011 and aimed at wheelchair tennis, in these 8 years has organized 7 national events of the highest level and over 100 wheelchair tennis rallies involving all the regions of the North West with an average of 14\ 16 wheelchair tennis meetings per year, between Piedmont, Lombardy, Valle D’Aosta and bringing more and more disabled children closer to sporting activity. The highlight of 2019 was the 1st National Tournament ‘Città di Vigevano 2019’ of wheelchair tennis at your Santa Maria di Vigevano sports centre, from 19/09 to 22/09/19 and prize money of 2000 euros, and the consolidated National wheelchair tennis tournament ‘Città di Alessandria Memorial Eugenio Taverna 2019’ at the Saves sports center in Alessandria from 31\10 to 03\11\19 with prize money of 3000 euros. In 6 years we have had over 250 disabled children try the sport, and have permanently brought more than 50 disabled athletes together. VOLARE promotes the “le Ali Cubane” project, having created the first wheelchair tennis tournament in Cuba. Born in collaboration with “LAB 3.11” in 2011 and where it saw its first edition in December 2014 with the tournament on the island Cuban “la Coppa Cuba”. A project that continues to be given continuity, where VOLARE is working on the second edition of the “ Coppa Cupa ” and where the possibility of organizing an international tournament in Havana is being studied.
